We have seen the videos that were produced by Captain Owen Honors. These were nothing but humerous skits, and in no way interfered with the operation of the Enterprise. When one is aboard ship for a lenghthy period of time, stress and boredom set in. This vessel was sailing into harms way a long way from home. To relieve the anxiety of the crew, then Commander Honor's decided to produce a series of comedy presentations to alleviate the crews apprehentions of going into harms way. It was fun for the crew and in no way effected their duties aboard ship. The complainers, especially the media, are the ones who have never been in the military and therefore have no idea what it's like to be in a combat situation. This is another example of political correctness, which also can be referred to as the dumbing down of America. The higher ups in the chain of command knew about these tapes and let it go. So now it's a big deal and Captain Honor's has been relieved of his command. Honor's was a naval aviator and attended top gun. Never mind his good record as a Naval aviator and executive officer of a nuclear carrier. This action taken against him is frivolous and completely out of line. We are becoming a nation of idiots and weaklings when it comes to insignificant events that are blown way out of proportion! The Captain has been reassigned to administrative duties, or in other words a pencil pusher. The punishment doesn't fit the the crime which wasn't a crime at all. This type of humor has been going on for years, not only aboard ship, but in all branches of the military. They say the Captain isn't fit to lead. Thats bunk. Let this be a lesson to all commanders at sea; do not engage in humor, for it will destroy your capability to effectively go into a combat situation. I'm sure that during World War II, similar incidents took place aboard ship under conditions that were much worse than what the Enterprise faced. If this action leads to a trial, Honors at least should retain his rank as captain. Again, a crime was not commited, so get a life Naval Command.
